Because UV resins cure before they can run off your piece, they can be used on curved surfaces. Just brush them on. Wait just a minute for the brush strokes to settle, then cure under a light. You can do this with any UV resin, but Teresa Pandora Salgado sells her DeepShine Resin. If you’re new to UV resin, this is a great way to get started. Polyester Resin Many people assume that baking longer times at lower temperature settings will solve this problem. It’s common to read recommendations in forums to set your oven to, for instance, 215°F (100°C) and bake for an hour or so. Will this work? Well, it might work for a specific person because they’re compensating for an incorrect oven. What they think is 215°F might actually be 275°F in their oven. But when others follow this temperature advice, they end up with fragile, brittle, underbaked clay. As you’ll only be using a little bit of liquid polymer clay at a time, it’s best to buy translucent liquid clay and colour it as you need it. Although pre-coloured liquid polymer clay is available, the colours are limited and it’ll work out more expensive than colouring your own if you’re only using a small amount. Heat gun: If you notice a cloudy appearance after baking Liquid Sculpey® Clear, hit it with a heat gun to develop a crystal clear, glossy finish. The techniques for using liquid polymer clay for miniatures are very similar, no matter what miniature food you’re making.

There are plenty of polymer clay tools out there, and you want to leave enough money (and space) so that you can buy the things that will bring you the most enjoyment. So, what are the essentials? Here’s what I recommend to buy for your Polymer Clay Starter Kit. And when you do start buying tools, you can often find them quite cheaply when you start looking in creative places. Here’s more about finding cheap polymer clay tools. 9. Embedding Eyepins Without a Kink Liquid polymer clay, including translucent and opaque, in clear and colours. Essential for creating baked clay to baked or raw clay connections. Recommended for adhering raw to raw clay. Also used to soften hard clay and to rescue crumbly clay. Use as a shiny or protective glaze, bake in a mould, use for pouring techniques and mix with mica powders for special effects.

Liquid Fusion is a urethane glue that is slightly amber-colored and crystal clear. It can be poured onthe surface of flat polymer clay and left to dry. It will take several days, but you’ll be left with a smooth, glossy, hard finish similar to resin. Sanding and Buffing Translucent and sculpey does do a range of coloured liquid clay in various colours including metallics and primary colours.

If you use a plastic container, just make sure it’s safe to use with polymer clay, as some plastic can react to clay and the clay will rot it. I’ve done a whole blog post about storing polymer clay correctly that you can read here. Metallic: Jewelry makers adore our Liquid Sculpey ® Gold, Silver and Copper Metallic liquid clays. Design on-trend accessories with Liquid Sculpey ® Glam Metallics in rose gold and bronze, or add dazzling color with our garnet and navy metallic options. Renaissance Wax has persuasivemarketing that’s convinced many people, including many polymer clay artists, that it’s an all-purpose protective material. That’s not exactly true. It is a high-quality microcrystalline wax used to coat metals against corrosion and tarnish. It will also enrich the appearance ofmaterials such as tortoise shell or ivory. Because it’s acid-free, it doesn’t contain chemicals that can degrade artifacts. It is archival. But that doesn’t mean it’s a superior protective coating for all purposes. It can build up and attract dirt. The main way liquid polymer clay is used in miniatures is to make liquids (surprise!) for miniature food modelling. It’s not used so much for things like water in miniature gardens, as none of the brands bake completely clear. Of the many traces of clay reachable today, the flexibility of liquid polymer clay makes it a standout. Incredibly versatile and bakeable, you can use liquid polymer clay for grout in mosaics and window clings. You can additionally put it in bakeable silicone molds to create earrings and domestic decor tasks or elaborations for different clay projects.

Now that i’ve discussed some of the general applications for liquid clay. Let’s go into some of the more creative and fun things you can do with it! Creative applications for liquid clay If using cookie sheets to bake it, make sure you line it with foil or wax paper and toss it out after you are done curing the polymer clay. Best for: Deepening and enriching dark colors, giving a warm sheen to smooth clay. Liquid Polymer Clay Liquid Polymer Clay is generally known to be used as an adhesive to bond pieces of clay together (wether its raw to raw, baked to baked, or raw to baked) and it’s often used as a way to help condition and soften crumbly clay because liquid clay contains plasticizer. And if you watched my previous video on polymer clay safety, you learn that plasticizer is what holds the clay together, softens it and makes it pliable.
