Description

Digging a trench requires excavating the entire length of the pipe that needs to be replaced. With some properties, this is impossible, in which case you’ll need to use the moling method.

This lightweight pipe is available in coils of 25m, 50m, 100m and 150m for ease of use, and comes in sizes ranging from 20-63mm. The benefits of using MDPE over copper is that it won’t corrode, meaning it is ideal for delivering clean (potable) water services. It is also inert and so has a good resistance to a wide range of naturally occuring ground chemicals and doesn't support the microbiological growth of algae, bacteria or fungi in normal operating conditions. Veronica on Working hard on the cottage Oh ... only just found this! What a wrench to leave your beautiful cottage, I hope whoever moves in loves it as much as you do. Iy's such a special pl… On one of my searches for “cheap cloches” I was drawn onto a gardening forum where several members had made cloches using blue water pipe as a frame. And then covering this with fleece or plastic in the winter and insect netting in the summer. The one problem seemed to be anchoring the hoops so the cloches didn’t blow away. Quite a few people mentioned the Geoff Hamilton cloche . This has a wooden frame that supports the pipe which is fine for a small raised bed but not for a twelve foot cloche, apart from in Mr Universe’s garden. I spent a lot of the weekend searching for cloches on the internet. I’ve sown peas and carrots for an early crop in the spring and even though we have a lot of cloches I need the smaller ones to protect salad and stir fry leaves. I did find some ‘cheap’ fleece cloches for under fifteen quid but I would need five of these – out of the question at the moment. When calculating the cost of your new water supply pipe, it’s important to know that you’re responsible for the pipework from your property up to the main stop tap in the road. The width of the trench should be the minimum of pipe outside diameter (OD) plus 250mm to allow for the correct compaction of sidefill. In general, the material costs for the pipes themselves are relatively low. The main cost of the new water supply pipe will be the labour involved and how long the job takes, as it will often involve excavating work to access pipelines. How to make a cheap and elegant cloche - The Cottage

Where water pipe enters or runs underneath a building it must be located within ducting, and it is essential they are sealed with a blanking cap (and usually also with foam pipe insulation). No joints or fittings should be used if pipe is located within ducting. Historically, all occurrences of this phenomenon have been loosely, if not mistakenly referred to as cuprosolvency, which literally means dissolution of the copper surface. Classic cuprosolvency typically occurs in water that is relatively soft, low in pH, and high in dissolved gases. It generally is characterized by elevated levels of dissolved copper in the water. However it does not usually result in high levels of particulate copper, or suspended copper corrosion products in the water. Although lead pipes haven’t been in use for over 40 years, in older properties some service pipes may be made from lead. If this is the case with your property, it’s recommended to replace lead pipes with modern plastic pipes to avoid drinking water with traces of lead in it. Fiona Nevile on Fiona’s traditional elderflower cordial recipe Hi Peta, Yes it does ferment a little = that is what you want. Simmering would kill the brew. In fact the water pipe is so sturdy we are thinking of making two enormous hoops and setting them at right angles to make a fruit cage or summer house.
